have gone like this, and, yes, president obama gave a kind of jerky press conference today. on the other hand, he moved quite a bit further towards the republicans than they moved towards him, no the to mention in 2011 giving them an over $1 trillion bill that was all spending cuts when they threatened to default on the debt ceiling and didn't allow any tax increases into it. so you've had, i think a reaction from republicans. i saw speaker boehner tweeting the house has already solved the problem and senate democrats haven't acted. it's a amamazing to see people all upset about this press conference. >> the fight has seemed very bitter at times. but by all indications when they get to the debt ceiling it will be even worse. the president has committed himself to not compromised one iota on the debt ceiling. he said it will be raised and he won't give up anything as a concession. republicans have committed themselves to extracting significant entitlement reforms. you can only imagine the type of rhetoric that's going to happen in their press conferences, in their press stat

they sounded like they could frame president obama as the bad guy. >> president obama is not the bad guy. you could see this love fest at the press conference this afternoon. american people totally understand and are supporting overwhelmingly what the president has proposed. they want tax cuts for the 98%, not for the top 2%. we've been at a standstill with plan "b" which never was a plan "b" to begin with because we're sacrificing the greater good for such a small minority. >> jimmy and susan, i am going to ask you about the president's press conference and whether you thought it was a bad idea. but when angela was talking, susan, you were shaking your head when she said that the american people are behind the president. >> well, i think right now the american people are frustrated with washington, and that's where that's going to come down. yes, the president is better than the worst guy. boehner is the worst guy and the president is better than that, but that's not the standard you want to meet. you want to have a standard of we respect our government and we're going forward. so that's wh

the press" says that president obama is going to appear on the show this weekend. we heard from the president a little bit ago. he still wants to get a deal done and he talks about the affects of the tax increases. we're going to bring you his comments in just a little bit. we're going to head to washington where bob is on the line. >> my comment is, i think the president is wrong. he wants to tax the people who actually provide the jobs for the country. and it is always tax us now and spending cuts later and i don't think the spending cuts are ever going to happen. if they do, it will only be for a short period of a couple of times before the base line budgeting will eat up the cuts. it is always tax, tax, and spend. this country can't afford that anymore. we can't pay what we o'now. >> willard is on the line from san diego, california. let's try one more time for willard. moving on to monica, she's in florida on the republicans line. >> yes, i was listening to the president speak about the budget. i notice he did not talk about the $250,000 being taxed. i think he's going to d
